One-on-One Introductory Ice Skating Lesson
 for the Beginner

An Introductory Lesson(s) is for the beginner student who has little to no experience ice skating and has not previously participated in a group or individual lesson. This lesson is a great way to prepare a skater prior to going into a Basic Skills group class session or just wants a lesson or two. The benefits are to have the skater get acqainted to the ice, build confidence and to feel comfortable on the ice. Parents and skaters will also learn to properly fit and lace skates.

The One-on-One Introductory Lesson(s) is a 20 or 30 minute lesson to teach the skater how to safely and properly sit and stand up from the ice, balance, skate forward, glide and stop. Additional basic skills may be covered in the lesson if time allows and the student is progressing comfortably. These skills may include forward swizzles, one foot glides and backward skating. Lessons are provided during the Public Skating Sessions.

Ice Skating Private Lessons for the Advancing Skater

Private lessons are for the skater who does not have a primary coach, wants to advance more quickly, needs lessons to master difficult skills, wants to learn new skills and is committed to practicing. Private lessons are usually scheduled each week for best results in progress of the skater. Lessons are for 20 or 30 minutes on Public Sessions or Freeskate Sessions based on the skaters level. The lesson can help prepare the skater for passing the U.S. Basic Skills Evaluation Tests or may be scheduled to re-test a level in order to pass and move up to the next level.

Skaters who show an interest in training to become a competitive figure skater may inquire about requirements for being considered as an on-going private student in the Competitive Figure Skating Program.  Contact Karen to schedule an evaluation appointment.
